Grand Tour Racing’98 имеет так много опций и вариантов гонок, что даже не вериться, что разработчики сумели впихнуть всё это в один CD. Сорок различных машин поделены на три группы и участвуют в трёх видах гонок: Rally, Sports и Buggy (по бездорожью). Такого разнообразия достаточно чтобы надолго застрять у экрана! Все машины сделаны в соответствии со стилем гонок – “Париж-Дакар”, “Dune Buggies” и “Формула 1” в трёхмерной графике, в подлинных гоночных ситуациях и совершенно потрясающей реалистичной обстановке! Ну что ещё надо! Гонщики мчатся по тем странам и городам, по которым эти знаменитые соревнования проходят и в жизни. Шотландия, Швейцария, Египет, Индия и ещё куча стран. Колоритные пейзажи, местные жители и даже животные! Горы, обвалы, лавины, пустыни и ледники – более чем достаточно! А какие препятствия на трассах! Развалины замков, обрушивающиеся мосты, затопленные дороги, неожиданные горные обвалы и оползни! Ну, и конечно, снег и лёд, песок и тропические ливни и ураганы! Ну, и если добавить, что гонки проходят утром, вечером и ночью, на слепящем солнце и плохо освещенных дорогах, то только и остается, что бежать в магазин в поисках этого чуда! На трассах идёт сложная тактическая борьба, скорости под 200 миль/час, можно кое-где срезать угол, а кое-где использовать и другие уловки. В игре много оригинальных сюрпризов и интересных находок. В этой игре – гонке вы сможете принять участие и в Indy, в гонках по бездорожью и по городским улицам. Хороший подарок получили любители этого жанра. Жаль только, управление туговатое (поначалу это не так ощущается). Игра очень насыщенная. Пять видов машин, шесть стран, масса разнообразных трасс и ко всему прочему режим четырёх игроков. Компьютер очень умело управляет машиной, поэтому вам придётся проявить всё своё умение, чтобы одолеть его. Сами трассы очень длинные и увлекательные, вы мчитесь по лесам и рекам. Советы
- 1. На московских трассах очень крутые виражи, того и гляди “закрутит”. Лучше притормозите и сбросьте скорость, чтобы чисто пройти вираж.
- 2. Пользуясь только кнопками направления (D-Pad), никогда не придёте к финишу первым. Учитесь пользоваться L1 и R1 для прохождения крутых виражей.
- 3. Ведя гонку в тёмном тоннеле, держитесь разделительной линии (по середине дороги), чтобы не вылететь с трассы и не врезаться в стену.
- 4. Не очень-то давите на газ, когда мчитесь на багги по пустыням и бездорожью. На поворотах можно потерять сцепление с дорогой и оказаться на обочине.
- 5. Вода, это плохо! Если нырнули, – то игра для вас закончена. Так что вблизи водных бассейнов пилотируйте машину особенно осторожно.
- 6. Не бойтесь столкновений с другими машинами. Если врежетесь в нужное место, то выбьете соперника с трассы и лишите его шансов на победу.
- 7. Старайтесь избегать болот, пустынных песков и рыхлого грунта, иначе здорово застрянете.
Коды и секреты
| All Tracks This game uses an unusual code system in which R1 must be tapped to the rhythm of a particular song at the main options screen. If you entered the code correctly, you will hear the sound of an engine. A excerpt of each song has been included in MIDI format as a guide to how R1 should be pressed. Note: Tap the rhythm at different speeds until the code is accepted by the game.

| Easter Island Bonus Level Complete Easter Island level 1 by finishing in first place to continue to level 2. At the start of Easter Island level 2, drive around the circuit until you see a small jump. It may be hard to see, as it is the same color as the sand. Near it is a red and white barrier. As you face it, on the right side you can drive around it. You will see a small triangle shaped piece of sand. At the end of it is an orange ball. Drive into it to load the secret level. |
| Egypt Bonus Level Select Egypt level 1. Drive through the town at the beginning until you are out in the open desert. Immediately before the first tunnel is a piece of land with some buildings on the right side of the road. Drive to where the piece of land starts, and drive up the shortest side. This is the only way to get up there. Drive on it without steering back on the road. Drive for a few seconds until you reach the end of the piece of land. About at the end is an orange ball. Drive into it to load the secret level. |

| Hong Kong Bonus Level Drive around the circuit on Hong Kong level 5 until reaching a dirt track. Once on the track, you will eventually come to a small low bridge that bridges a small stream. Get off the road and quickly try to drive under the bridge. Drive into the orange ball under the bridge in the middle of the stream to load the secret level. |
| Moscow Bonus Level Complete Moscow level 1 by finishing in first place to continue to level 2. At the start of Moscow level 2, drive backwards until you get to a small jump. Continue past it, turn around, and drive off it. Jump off it at an angle to land over the barrier to the right of the jump. Look between the building to find an orange ball. Drive into it to load the secret level. |
| Multi-player Suicide Mode Use R1 to match the rhythm of the musical sequence "Supercallifragilisticexpialidotious" from Mary Poppins. Then, select an "A" track in split screen mode. Each player will race around the track in opposite directions. |
| Switzerland Bonus Level Select Switzerland level 1. Drive until you reach a collection of houses and people. At a certain point in front of the houses, you can drive up around them. There are two that have a "ski house" sign on them. Drive behind the farthest one up the hill. You should see a yellow and orange ball. Drive into it to load the secret level. |
