Dennou Taisen DroneZ (T85-00001) (NTSC-J)

Dennou Taisen DroneZ is a third-person Sci-Fi Shooter game by Zetha GameZ. Released April 22, 2004.

Despite catching lots of press in its production cycle (as a graphic demo/benchmark for GeForce 3 and Pentium 4 chips), the PC version of DroneZ was only released in North America as part of a pack-in software suite with nVidia GeForce 3 graphics cards in 2001. DroneZ XL, the full edition of the game was released only in Russia in October of 2004, by publisher Noviy Disk. In Russia the game also goes by the name "КиберЗона" (CyberZone).

At one point it was also set to appear on the Dreamcast. This Xbox port was only released in Japan and strangely without any translation as it is entirely in English. The Xbox version supports multiplay over Xbox Live for up to six players as well as a four-player split-screen mode off-line.

Story:

In the not-too-distant future, pollution, crime, and neglect have left the world a desolate and dangerous place. To escape this hellish reality, humans have taken to hooking themselves into a virtual reality called V-Space. However, all is not well. V-Space is dominated by DroneZ, cyber-insects who forbid people to disconnect.

You will take on the role of a human trapped within the system and it will be up to you to defeat the system.

DroneZ features a multitude of playable characters, though only two are available from the very beginning of the game: Eva Tharr, a student who accidentally stumbled upon classified data, which in turn made her a target of the system, and Sid Roxe, a strong, revolutionary type who wants nothing more than to see V-Space brought down.

With the help of a hacker named Doku living in the "real world" you must move to and from network memory locations (platforms), avoiding lasers to stay alive. Defeat the computer enemy protections with rapid fire weapons. The game features a free-aiming weapon scanner for pin-point attacks as well as tons of bonus powers, shield generators and secondary weapons.
