Dohorox, у некоторых песен очень глубокие истории, которые ещё ждут своих исследователей. Я полночи копался в истории этой песни -
The House Of The Rising Sun - её кто ток не пел.. я ещё пацаном её слышал(и так и не смог отыскать в чьём исполнении мне это было), там в комментах целое расследование учинили -

Does anyone know what this song is about? When I was quite young this song came out and it shocked my Mother quite a bit. She told me that her Mother had told her and her Mothers Mother had told her of this place in New Orleans name The House of the Rising Sun. It was the best known brothel in the world back in the mid 1800's. It was names for a Madam named Marianne LeSoleil Levant. She must of been something because there was a whole big bunch of men who were sent off to prison over her. The sailors would get off the ship in New Orleans to go on leave and end up at The House Of The Rising Sun and not ever make it back to the ship. They were pulling them out of the place left and right and locking them up for going AWOL. The story go's that the lady's "and I use the term loosely" would come out into the streets and pull their dresses up for these men who had been away at sea for months and months and take them in and would not let go of them until every penny they had was gone. I have looked it up but no one seems to know the truth of this place. I know it because the story was handed down through the generations. Apparently I had a great, great, great Uncle who's life was completely destroyed by this place. A lot of men's lives were destroyed by it. In the early to mid 1900's everyone knew what this place was. The place originated in Paris France and when they had trouble there, Marianne LeSoleil Levantto packed up all her girls and moved them to the USA to New Orleans. I think it is sad that it is a part of American history that once again someone has decided should be swept under the rug. America has a very rich history that people can learn from if you can find bits and pieces of the truth. Now when you listen to the words of this song, you will be able to understand what it was that they are singing about. Many men were completely ruined because every time they got a dollar in their pocket, they would head right back to The House of the Rising Sun. This was the start of real crime in New Orleans because these men began to rob and steal to get money for Madam Marianne LeSoleil Levant. She had to be something else.

- опять в этот "House Of The Rising Sun".
