DESCRIPTION

Super Robot Wars is a series of tactical role-playing video games produced by Banpresto, which is now a Japanese division of Namco Bandai. The main feature of the franchise is having a story that crosses over several popular mecha anime, manga and video games, allowing characters and mecha from different titles to team up or battle one another. The first game in the franchise was released for the Nintendo Game Boy on the 20th April, 1991. Later spawning numerous games that were released on various consoles and handhelds. Due to the nature of crossover games and licensing involved, only three games have been released outside of Japan, these games only feature Banpresto's own original characters and mecha. The franchise will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2011.

SUPER ROBOT WARS EX: Released in 1994 for Super Famicon. Also released in Playstation in 1999 as part of the Super Robot Wars Complete Box.

The first title to focus on the Maso Kishin plot, and unique for having a "Multiple Scenario" system, wherein the order in the player selects the storylines affects the plot. It is the first Super Robot Wars to allow players to upgrade weapons. Ported to the PlayStation as part of Super Robot Wars Complete Box.

Super Robot Wars EX is split into three chapters, one each for Masaki (easy), Ryuune (medium), and Shuu (hard). The player won't be able to get Shuu's section until he clears Masaki and Ryuune's parts.

STORY:
We begin with the statement of Clarke's Third Law. After the fight with the aliens (in SRW3), Masaki returns to his second homeland, the subterranean Ra-Gias kingdom. The central government in Ragran has lost its efficacy due to a terrorist campaign half a year ago and was largely destroyed. At the same time, the army of the Shutedonias Federation attacked.

Masaki pursued Shuu to the Earth's surface, believing him to be manipulating the terrorists from the shadows, but returned upon Shuu's death. Ra-Gias is now in the throes of a war between Shutedonias, the former Ragran army, and the holy warriors of Kirkus. Masaki starts roughly 30km south of the city of Ramond, in the state of Ruzark.

Shiro (one of the High Familiars) wonders if the Kirkus army has conquered this area yet; Masaki thinks they should still be duking it out with Shutedonias near Troy. Kuro thinks they need to gather information. Suddenly, a contact appears on the Psybuster's spirit radar about 10 km out...they didn't catch it sooner due to the spareness of spirits in the area.

Masaki figures it's some mountain dwellers, and plans to go ask them for information and maybe train in the process (Kuro thinks they're guerrillas...) They've got 4 Elemental Machines, an impressive number for guerrillas. Most of them are scared of you, but they want to try to take you down anyway for the sake of their leader Gold. Masaki says that jumping for prey right before their eyes without stopping to think of their own limitations is strictly according to pattern for the mountain dwellers. You have a choice whether or not to say anything to them - if you decide to say anything you deliver a threat that seems to scare them pretty thoroughly.
