The game does away with the traditional energy bar, instead using a Star Quality meter. Take damage and this meter dips, but fight well and activate the many props around the level and your Star Quality rises. A cool touch, it can help you back into the game, even if you've been taking a severe pummelling.

Each level is a small arena based on a movie set and the props differ accordingly. Try drinking moonshine in the Old West to inflate like a balloon and drop gassy bombs, or activate a laser defence system in the Mission Impossible level to zap your foes. You can pick up weapon items like bubble-gum guns and bombs, plus wild-card 'contracts' that often hinder you as much as help.

It's simplistic but brilliant fun - at least in the short term. There should be lots of gameplay for your money, as well as genuinely funny animations and attacks to use in your quest.

In Loons, there's more to being a big-shot movie star than just memorizing lines - there's backstabbing, sabotage, and showing off. You must ruin the competition with props, gags, and gizmos throughout 15 movie sets and seven minigames.
