Panther Software Co. Ltd
Panther Software is a Japanese video game and software company. Founded in 1987 as Panther Studios Ltd., the company changed its name to Panther Software in 1991. They produced video games for the MSX, Sharp X68000, PlayStation, Dreamcast and Xbox and PC software tools, some examples of their previous efforts include GIGA Paint, Script Magic, the Space Griffon game series, and Braveknight.
Panther Software Inc. was established July 23, 1987 as Studio Panther. The name was changed to Panther Software in November 1991, then to Interlex Core Inc. in September 2000, though the Panther Software name continued to be used for the company's game software products. The games and entertainment division was spun back off in April 2005 (again as Panther Software Inc.), but was at some point acquired by eroge company Contents Traffic (previously ZyX).
The company opened offices in South Korea (Panther Software Korea) and the United States (Interlex Inc.) in 1999, and in Taiwan (Interlex Taiwan) in 2001. The US and Taiwan offices were sold off in 2004.
In addition to games, Panther Software was known for their development and art tools for Japanese computers and consoles, as well as for DRM and copy-protection solutions. It was also at one point the head of software trade group Yuuto Group, which also included eroge makers D.O., CD Bros., and ZyX.
